>>Father and son crane operators Jim and Mike Beyer walk along the counter-jib catwalk of dad’s crane, 280 feet above the Aulani site, to check on the hoist drum that controls cable reeling in and out. Four cranes went up June 15, 2009, for construction of the two 16-story towers at the Disney Resort & Spa at Ko Olina. But their work is done and they’ve now been dismantled. The resort, expected to be completed in Fall 2011, includes 359 hotel rooms, 460 Vacation Club Villas, four restaurants, two lounges, a conference center, 10 recreation facilities and an 18,000- square-foot spa and fitness center.
