Onipaa Kakou

On January 17, 1893, Queen Liliuokalani was imprisoned in Iolani Palace by a group of sugar barons and capitalists, yielding soverignty to the United States. Five years later Hawaii was made a territory of the U.S., and became the 50th state in 1959. Today, Hawaiiʻs people gathered together at the state capitol to recognize the 125th anniversary of the Hawaiian Kingdomʻs overthrow.
