Dual Credit Benefits All Students

Students who enroll in any UH college-level courses before graduating from high school are more likely to enroll in college afterward. The increase in college enrollment is greatest for economically disadvantaged students. Here are the fall college enrollment rates for the five public high school graduating classes from 2013 to 2017:

Students who did any dual credit program while in high school are also more likely to re-enroll in their second year of college. Here are the numbers for the high school graduating classes of 2012 to 2016:

 

Here’s How Many Students Took Dual Credit

Seventeen percent of public high school graduates in the class of 2017 participated in dual credit programs. Eight percent earned 6 or more college credits (that’s equal to two standard courses), 7 percent passed college English and 2 percent passed a college math course
