Dr. Kristin Pauker, Associate Professor of Psychology, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and Director, ISP lab
Dr. Pauker’s research examines how motivation, social context, and culturally-shaped theories about race impact intergroup bias. Her scholarship has appeared in high-impact journals including Science, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and Developmental Psychology, among others, and has been covered by the New York Times and Time Magazine. Her recent work, which has been supported by extramural grants from NIH and NSF, examines the way implicit bias is perpetuated through culture (e.g., media) via patterns of interactions and how diversity impacts the emergence of gender and racial bias in development. She aims to apply insights from her research toward creating interventions and supporting programs that foster inclusion and harness the value of diversity.
