TEXACO
When Island Energy Services took over Chevron’s 56 gas stations statewide, the name might have changed to Texaco, but customers can expect the same convenience, cleanliness, top-grade products and quality service that they appreciated at Chevron for many decades. Texaco, after all, is a Chevron brand.
“Chevron puts a lot of research into Techron, an additive that is found only in Chevron and Texaco gasolines,” said Albert Chee, Island Energy’s vice president of retail marketing and community relations. “Techron is a big plus for our customers, because they know it increases gas mileage, eliminates knocking and pinging, minimizes emissions that cause air pollution and cleans the harmful deposits that other gasolines leave, which maximizes the power of their vehicle’s engine.”
In addition, Island Energy has expanded the product choices at select locations. In addition to regular, mid-grade and premium gas, customers can now get diesel at eight additional Texaco stations on Oahu and one additional location in Lahaina, Maui. They will also find propane at Stadium Texaco near Aloha Stadium.
As part of its licensing agreement with Chevron, Island Energy maintained rights to the Chevron credit card, which provides holders with discounts on Texaco gas. Island Energy is also continuing the Safeway rewards program; points that customers earn from supermarket purchases can be redeemed for reduced prices at Texaco pumps.
Moreover, Island Energy intends to expand its network of gas stations statewide. “Our current priority is to continue to serve our customers’ needs whether it be quality fuel or expanding offerings in our convenience stores,” Chee said. “If we can add a new station every 16 to 18 months, that would be great.”
Chee oversees Island Energy’s corporate giving program, which supports organizations that are aligned with its business, including the American Red Cross-Hawaii chapter (President and CEO Jon Mauer serves on its board). The company also donates to University of Hawaii athletic programs because research shows its customers are avid fans of UH sports. And it contributes to STEM (science, engineering, technology and mathematics)-focused educational organizations that provide opportunities for students to pursue careers that support environmental stewardship and protection.
