Gravy All Over

If it were up to the food police, eating a Blane’s Drive Inn Gravy Burger ($2.20) in Hilo would be classified as a class-1 felony. The simple, Big Island sandwich features a juicy beef patty with a small pool of savory, velvety brown gravy poured in the middle. It’s salty, sinful and, of course, moist. If you really want to get criminal, you can upgrade to a double ($3.45) or add cheese for $.25.
How could something so wrong be so right? Blane’s is located in Hilo, the reported birthplace of the salty and saucy loco moco. So these people know their gravy. Maybe the rest of us will catch on.
